CHRISTINE CUDANES is a freelance writer and former broadcast journalist who has covered the entertainment industry for E!, Extra, and Inside Edition.

THE STORY BEHIND HOW TO "I DO":

When we first started to formulate the original idea behind How To “I Do”, co-author Christine Cudanes was a newlywed and co-author Holly Lefevre had recently become engaged and asked Christine to serve as her Matron of Honor.

Soon into Holly’s wedding planning process we began discussing the lack of wedding planning books available on the market that truly addressed the needs of working women like us - busy brides trying to fit all of the planning into our demanding schedules.

As we worked together planning Holly’s upcoming wedding, we began formulating the Six-Weekend Wedding Planner format along the way, giving it a sort of “test run”. Soon after the wedding proved to be a huge success, we created the proposal for the book. So basically, the idea blossomed from the desire to create the “dream” wedding planning book that we wished we could have had access to while planning our own weddings.

Much of the information contained within How To “I Do” was quelled from our own wedding planning experiences, combined with interviews with recent brides, newly engaged couples, wedding consultants, and other wedding vendors. We scoured through bridal publications, and surfed wedding related websites to find out what brides’ and grooms’ were most concerned about. We immersed ourselves in all things wedding...bridal shows, wedding invitation catalogs, honeymoon travel brochures, and of course the competition - other wedding planning books. We dug up notes scribbled on the pages of our old wedding planners, notebooks, bridal magazines, and brochures that were helpful to us during our own wedding planning.

The research and writing of the original manuscript of the book was completed within three months time, in order to make our deadline. During this time Christine left her full-time job at E! Entertainment Television to concentrate on her writing career and other freelance projects. Holly continued to work part-time in the fashion industry and was also taking courses to become a certified wedding consultant, which then led her to founding her own wedding consulting firm, Everything But The Groom.

It took approximately another year and a half of editing, re-editing, and designing (after the first draft of the manuscript was submitted), before the finished product evolved. These several years of concerted effort that went into completing How to “I Do” - truly make this project a labor of love!
